- July 11 – An early morning fire at 6915 Mary Caroline Circle in the Victoria Crossings condominium complex in Alexandria kills 68-year-old Sadia B. Mohammad, her 36-year-old daughter Anisa A. Yassin, and 16-year-old Iftu J. Salah.[1][2]
- July 12 – David M. Rohrer is appointed Chief of the Fairfax County Police Department.[3]
- July 24 – 16-year-old Luke Tiahrt hangs himself at the family home at 9360 Tovito Drive in Fairfax.[4]
