- July 8 – After 10 months in the position, Joanmarie I. Davoli resigns as the head of the Fairfax public defender's office, citing inadequate resources from the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission.[1]
- July 27 – Following a contempt of cop incident, Fairfax County Police Lieutenant Lance E. Schaible uses the "touch a cop, go to jail" gambit as an excuse to arrest Fairfax County Planning Commisioner Ronald W. Koch at the Sully District Station.[2]
