Events that took place in Fairfax County in May, 1957:
- May 9 – Two-year-old Deborah Weatherholz is struck and killed by a car driven by the Reverend Thomas J. Larkin on Lee Highway in Centreville when she follows her grandfather, who had crossed the road to pick up the mail.[1]
- May 14 – Disregarding a caution from the operator of the school, and after commenting to another teacher that she is an "expert swimmer", 22-year-old fifth grade teacher Rose Scouras drowns in the swimming pool of the Flint Hill Preparatory School in Oakton.[2]
- May 20 – 20-year-old John Jones is found guilty of first-degree murder for fatally shooting 26-year-old William H. Washington in the Gum Springs area of Alexandria on March 16.[3]
