- November 2 – 47-year-old Rick Hamilton kills his 46-year-old wife Bene Svitavsky and two children, 8-year-old Katy and 6-year-old Sara, then sets the family home at 1303 Bayshire Lane in Herndon afire before shooting himself in the garage.[1][2]
- November 15 – 27-year-old Fairfax County Police Officer Chad E. Mahoney is shot in the chest by another FCPD officer while engaging in a controlled drug buy in the parking lot of the University Mall in Fairfax.[3][4]
- November 27 – An electrical fire destroys Dogwood Elementary School in Reston.
