- December 13 – Vienna Police Chief Dan Boring submits his resignation, effective February 9.[1]
- December 20 – A man is struck and killed at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Huntington Avenue in Alexandria. He is taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he is pronounced dead.[2]
- December 22 – A 35-year-old woman is struck and killed at the intersection of Franconia Road and South Van Dorn street in the Franconia area of Alexandria.[3]
- December 23 – 42-year-old cook Thomas X. Duong is shot to death in his car behind the Culmore Shopping Center in the Baileys Crossroads section of Falls Church.[4][5]
