- September 1 – After following him from Chillum, Maryland, 26-year-old Prince George's County Police Corporal Carlton B. Jones shoots 25-year-old Prince C. Jones, Jr. to death in the Seven Corners area of Falls Church.[1][2]
- September 7 – A Fairfax County police officer shoots and kills 55-year-old Ji Young Yoo at his house at 5223 Stonington Drive in Fairfax when he refuses to drop the splitting maul he was using to destroy furniture in the house.[3][4]
- September 16 – 21-year-old Jemmy E. Valladares Rivas is strangled to death by her boyfriend, 20-year-old Edwin J. Jones, in room #317 at the Courtyard by Marriot hotel on Route 50 in Fairfax.[5][6]
