- September 13 – 66-year-old Abdulkadir Munye is stabbed to death in his apartment at 11911 Winterthur Lane #104 in Reston by his 23-year-old son Mohamed Adde to settle an argument.[1][2]
- September 14 – The Herndon Official Workers Center in Herndon closes.[3]
- September 29 – The Oakton Library opens.[4]
