- December 13, 1956 – The Fairfax County School Board votes 5-1 to sell $3 million in bonds despite having to pay an interest rate of 4.74%, which equates to having to pay an extra $735,000 over the 25-year term of the bonds. The money is to be used to construct Graham Road Elementary School and Kent Gardens Elementary School, as well as finance additions to Herndon High School and three other elementary schools.
- December 13, 1965 – 2½-year-old Christopher Cantwell is beaten to death by his father, Army Sergeant Patrick Cantwell, in the family home at 4270 Allison Circle in Fairfax.
- December 13, 1996 – Jonathan Sorah is convicted of manslaughter for shooting and mortally wounding his brother Joseph at the family home in Vienna on June 8.
- December 13, 1996 – James A. Murray is sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole by Judge Marcus D. Williams for the stabbing murder of Jonathan A. Hall on December 16, 1995.
- December 13, 2002 – 30-year-old Jose Febo fatally shoots his 57-year-old father Manuel, then commits suicide at the family home at 7313 Sterling Grove Drive in Springfield.
- December 13, 2006 – Following a bank robbery in Alexandria, unarmed criminal suspect 39-year-old Edward R. Agurs, Jr. is shot to death by Fairfax County Police Major Michael LoMonaco in the crawl space under the apartment building at 7417 Fordson Road.
