- February 5, 1955 – An early morning fire kills 73-year-old Christopher Pettit in his home on Pole Road in the Engleside section of Alexandria.
- February 5, 1971 – 24-year-old Edward A. Ellis is killed in Reston when he loses control of his car and hits a tree on Hunter Mill Road.
- February 5, 1992 – 53-year-old former aerospace executive Richard E. Brackeen is shot in the back of the head and mortally wounded by his wife Janet at their home at 148 River Park Drive in Great Falls. Brackeen is flown to Fairfax Hospital, where he dies.
