- February 6, 1979 – Disregarding Commonwealth's Attorney Robert Horan's recommendation that she serve 25 years in prison, Judge Thomas J. Middleton instead sentences Betty M. Holler to life in prison for her role as an intermediary in the January 31, 1978 contract murder of George H. Scarborough.
- February 6, 1988 – 17-year-old Jennifer L. Hauenstein is killed by 21-year-old Wahid Avawi when Avawi drunkenly crashes his Pontiac Trans Am into a Volkswagen Rabbit at about 100 miles per hour at the intersection of Little River Turnpike and Guinea Road in Fairfax.
