- February 4, 1940 – 28-year-old Archie W. Melvin is killed when he crashes the car he is driving into one driven by 37-year-old Thomas E. Everhart on the Leesburg Pike two miles west of Tyson's Corner.
- February 4, 1966 – Fairfax Circuit Court Judge Paul E. Brown signs an order creating a 25-acre enclave of Fairfax County containing the Fairfax County Courthouse within the City of Fairfax.
- February 4, 1970 – 61-year-old John H. Lightfoot and his 54-year-old wife Helen are killed by carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a faulty gas heater in their home at 811 Leigh Mill Road in Great Falls. The couple's corpses are discovered the next morning when a friend stops by to give Helen a ride to work.
- February 4, 1974 – 50-year-old George M. Fones burns to death in the fire that destroys his home at 7830 Magarity Road in the Pimmit Hills neighborhood of Falls Church.
- February 4, 1989 – 45-year-old Marilyn V. Warga is shot to death by her estranged husband, 47-year-old Ronald B. Moore, who then commits suicide in his rented house at 6539 Renwood Lane in Annandale.
- February 4, 1995 – 37-year-old Ruby Kibler is stabbed to death by her boyfriend, 45-year-old Joseph D. Bowler, in his attic apartment in Bailey's Crossroads.
- February 4, 2005 – 26-year-old Oscar Omar Ramos Hernandez is sentenced to three consecutive life terms by Judge Kathleen H. MacKay for the August 13, 2001 rape and murder of Diana Garcia in Falls Church.
