- June 21, 1976 – 38-year-old Assistant Richmond City Manager Leonard L. Whorton is selected as the new Fairfax County Executive. His appointment is approved by a 7-2 vote by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, with only supervisors James M. Scott and Alan H. Magazine voting against Whorton's taking the post.
- June 21, 2002 – William M. Cronan, Jr. is sentenced by Judge Dennis J. Smith to 25 years in prison for the December 15, 2001 murder of his wife Sigrid.
