- March 10, 1970 – Shortly after being dropped off at the intersection of Little River Turnpike and the Shirley Highway by his adoptive father, 18-year-old Paul S. Jones swings back by the family house at 4617 Brookside Drive in Lincolnia, ties up his 58-year-old adoptive mother Ethel, then stabs her 32 times.
- March 10, 1996 – 29-year-old Elizabeth A. Deighton is killed in an early morning fire at her home at 8509 Engleside Street in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Alexandria.
