- March 31, 1960 – The Fairfax County Park Authority is awarded a 25-year license to operate the Fort Belvoir Reservoir and the surrounding property as a public park. This 242-acre property will become the core of Lake Accotink Park.
- March 31, 1964 – 22-year-old Naval Academy midshipman Donald H. Wallace unintentionally kills himself when he crashes his sports car into a tree on Hunter Mill Road near Oakton.
