- April 1, 1970 – While flying from Washington National Airport to Manassas, 27-year-old Navy Lieutenant John P. Reynolds, Jr. is killed when his Cessna 150H encounters bad weather and crashes in Burke.
- April 1, 1998 – 33-year-old Paul Ritz kills 60-year-old Ann C. Beier when he runs a red light and strikes her car broadside on Arlington Boulevard near South Manchester Street in the Seven Corners area of Falls Church.
- April 1, 1998 – A 13-year-old hospitality entrepreneur, nicknamed "Mr. Pimp", is convicted of trying to set up a prostitution ring at Langston Hughes Middle School in Reston.
- April 1, 2013 – John W. Dargle, Jr. abruptly resigns as Director of the Fairfax County Park Authority. FCPA Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer Cindy Messigner takes over as acting director.
