- September 3, 1959 – Ossian Hall is burned by the Annandale Volunteer Fire Department.
- September 3, 1997 – 39-year-old Christopher D. Roberts fatally shoots his estranged wife, 36-year-old Delbert D. J. Roberts, in the parking lot of the Springfield Mall to settle a dispute, then shoots and mortally wounds himself. Roberts is taken to the Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he dies.
- September 3, 2016 – 53-year-old Kelly M. Scott is found dead in his cell at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
