The Twin Lakes Golf Course is a 186.85 acre district park and public golf course in Clifton. It was the first public golf course in Fairfax County.

The course actually contains two separate 18-hole courses, the older, easier Lakes course, and the newer, more difficult Oaks course.

The Fairfax County Park Authority purchased the land from a dairy farm in 1965 at a cost of $1250 per acre.[1]

The architect and construction superintendent for the original Lakes course was Charles B. Schalestock.[2] The course opened for play on October 6, 1967.[2]
