Workhouse Arts Center
The Workhouse Arts Center provides art studios and performance venues for local artists in Lorton. Built in a converted facility at the former Lorton Reformatory, it is run by the Workhouse Arts Foundation.
On January 14, 2014, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted 8-1 to assume $30 million of the center's $60 million debt to Wells Fargo Bank, with only supervisor Pat Herrity dissenting.[1]
In September 2015, Ava Spece was named president and CEO of the Workhouse Arts Center.[2]
