January
- January 19 – Following his State of Sully address, long-time Sully District Supervisor Michael R. Frey announces he will not seek reelection to a seventh term.[1]
February
- February 2 – Mount Vernon District supervisor Gerald W. Hyland announces that, after 28 years, he will retire and not seek another term on the Board of Supervisors.[2]
- February 3 – 37-year-old Natasha McKenna suffers cardiac arrest after being tasered four times while being removed from her cell and placed in a restraint chair at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. After noticing that McKenna has died, Fairfax County Sheriff's deputies resuscitate McKenna and take her to the Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she dies for keeps on February 8.
March
- March 1 – Captain Ron Lanzo takes command of the Fairfax County Police Department's Reston District Station.[3][4]
- March 16 – In what are believed to be unrelated incidents, the body of 22-year-old William Adolfo Rivas Leiva is discovered in a wooded area near Folly Lick Stream off the 1500 block of Hiddenbrook Drive in Herndon and the body of 19-year-old Milton Adonay Leon Angel is found in a creek behind an apartment building in the 4300 block of Ivymount Court in Annandale. Both men are found with upper body trauma consistent with homicide.[5]
- March 19 – 56-year-old Paul W. Church dies in a fire at 5631 Southampton Drive in Springfield.[6][7]
- March 26 – 64-year-old Santos Rafael Zelaya is shot and mortally wounded during a home invasion robbery at his home at 6103 N Kings Highway in the Huntington section of Alexandria when he confronts the three robbers with a machete.[8] Zelaya is airlifted to a local hospital, where he dies.[9]
- March 29 – 19-year-old Dilbar Noory unintentionally kills herself when she loses control of her 2004 Honda Accord, striking two other vehicles on Lee Chapel Road in Burke.[10][11]
April
- April 2 – 31-year-old Ubaldo Lopez Yanez fatally stabs 36-year-old Jose Ramirez Guardado in a vacant unit in the Fairmont Gardens apartments in Annandale.[12][13]
- April 13 – Former Lanier Middle School principal Scott F. Poole takes over as principal of W.T. Woodson High School.[14]
May
- May 17 – 24-year-old Rashad Kejuan Daye is shot and killed during an attempted robbery at the apartment of 22-year-old Kevin M. Baldwin in the Shadowood Condominiums in Reston.[15][16]
- May 22 – Annandale High School principal Vincent J. Randazzo announces his retirement, seeking to "spend more time with family and pursue new and different opportunities."[17]
- May 25 – 7-year-old Fatmata Kamara drowns in the community pool in the Lorton Station neighborhood of Lorton.[18][19]
June
- June 14 – A two-year-old boy drowns at the Pirate's Cove Waterpark at the Pohick Bay Regional Park in Lorton. He is resuscitated and taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he dies four days later.[20]
July
- July 16 – 25-year-old Mohammed Moshin Najim is fatally shot by 53-year-old Thomas R. Lienau outside Lineau's home at 8163 Curving Creek Court in Springfield. Najim is taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he dies.[21]
- July 21 – 19-year-old Brooke L. Lancaster commits suicide by jumping off a parking garage on Dulles Station Boulevard in Herndon.[22][23]
- July 27 – Governor Terry McAuliffe appoints Circuit Court judge Jane Marum Roush to the bench of the Virginia Supreme Court.[24]
- July 31 – Fairfax County Police officer Adam D. Torres is fired.[25]
- July 31 – 33-year-old Eric J. LaRocque is shot to death in a bedroom of his home at 1822 Midlothian Court in Vienna.[26]
August
- August 3 – 56-year-old Peter M. Kester is killed when he crashes his moped into a Toyota Camry that attempts a U-turn on Franconia Road near Thornhill Court in Springfield.[27]
- August 5 – 42-year-old Khalid Aboumalik is robbed and murdered in the Huntington Park in Alexandria by 19-year-old Michael N. Powell.[28][29][30]
- August 26 – 16-year-old Vladimir Antonio Perez Flores drowns in the Little Hunting Creek near where it flows into the Potomac River in Alexandria.[31][32]
October
- October 1 – 49-year-old Alfredo R. Prieto is executed by lethal injection at the Greenville Correctional Center in Jarratt for the murders of Rachael A. Raver and Warren H. Fulton, III in Reston in 1988.[33]
- October 4 – 34-year-old Jose Anibar Cisneros is fatally shot by Charles W. Kibler in the Groveton area of Alexandria.[34][35][36]
- October 21 – 72-year-old Silvia Raquel Corella Erazo is struck and mortally injured by a 30-year-old Sterling-area man driving a 2005 Honda Accord as she attempts to cross Wiehle Avenue near Chestnut Grove Square in Reston. Corella is taken to the Reston Hospital Center, where she dies.[37]
- October 30 – W. T. Woodson High School Chemistry teacher Susan Sharaf burns herself and five students, two of them seriously, while performing a demonstration for the class. Three of the injured students are taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, while the two most critically injured victims, Sonya Garvis and Nolan Ward, are flown to MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. The fire also causes the school's evacuation, and is estimated to have caused $7500 in damage.[38][39][40]
November
- November 1 – 69-year-old Zahoor Ali Khan is struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver as he attempts to cross Franconia Road in Alexandria.[41]
- November 18 – 22-year-old Marquel L. Davis is shot to death by Andre C. Wilkins in his mother's apartment in the Colchester Towne Condominium complex in the Hybla Valley area of Alexandria.[42][43][44]
- November 19 – 50-year-old prisoner Monty Roy Saito is found unresponsive in the infirmary of the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Saito is taken to the Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he dies the next day.[45]
- November 21 – 91-year-old Mildred H. Bylund is mortally injured in a house fire at 7113 Sylvan Glen Lane in Fairfax Station. Bylund is taken to the Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she dies.[46]
December
- December 18 – 18-year-old Lake Braddock Secondary School student Laween A. Akrawi unintentionally kills himself while driving on the Franconia-Springfield Parkway in Springfield when he loses control of the BMW 3-Series he is driving and crashes into the trees alongside the roadway.[47][48]
- December 21 – 73-year-old Jae Hyun Cho fatally electrocutes 56-year-old Kum Yeon, then attempts to kill himself by the same method in his basement apartment at 7160 Pennys Town Court in Annandale. Cho is taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and dies on January 9, 2016.[49][50][51]
- December 25 – 34-year-old Santos Narcisco Osorio fatally stabs 23-year-old Edgar Armando Serrano in Falls Church to settle an argument at a party.[52][53]
Crime
There were 13 murders or other homicides in Fairfax County in 2015.[54]
