- February 18 - John F. Beach is killed on the Washington Southern Railway near his home in Lorton Valley.[1]
April
- April 10 – 40-year-old Robert E. Sisson is killed when he is caught in the machinery of his sawmill at Legato.[2]
August
- August 29 – 20-year-old Lucy Grove attacks and beats 66-year-old Justice of the Peace August Henning about the head with a dog whip at the Vienna post office, where he had been lured by a false message of a telephone call. Grove was angry at Henning for dismissing her complaint against Eugene Hall, who she claimed had assaulted her the previous July.[3][4]
