- January 1 – Dr. Frank W. Huddleson resigns from his position as Fairfax County Treasurer because of illness.[1]
- January 14 – Dr. Frank W. Huddleson dies at his home in Herndon.[1]
June
- June 16 – Colonel William L. Peak, superintendent of the Lorton Reformatory, dies when he crashes his car into a parked gasoline truck on Route 1 near Fort Belvoir.[2]
August
- August 6 – After having been closed for the previous 18 years, the Lee Chapel officially reopens.[3]
November
- November 26 – 17-year-old Richard DeButts and 19-year-old Eugene Moffett are killed when 21-year-old Arthur Mullen, Jr. crashes the car he is driving into a culvert near Herndon.[4]
December
- December 27 - 19-year-old Delbert Frame is killed by a hit-and-run driver while sledding on Lee-Jackson Boulevard near his home in Pleasant Valley.[5]
