Events that took place in Fairfax County in December, 2004:
- December 4 – 35-year-old Glenn Donsanto dies in a fire at his father's home at 1925 Batten Hollow Road in Vienna.[1][2]
- December 6 – 14-year-old Rody J. Phillips stabs and mortally wounds 60-year-old clerk Sun Ku Kwon at the 7-Eleven at 5638 Mount Vernon Memorial Hwy in Alexandria.[3][4] Kwon is airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he dies.[4]
- December 9 – 26-year-old Oscar Omar Ramos Hernandez pleads guilty in Circuit Court to the kidnapping, rape, and murder of 24-year-old Diana Garcia in Falls Church on August 13, 2001.[5]
- December 23 – Macerich announces their planned purchase of the Wilmorite real estate investment trust, whose portfolio includes Tysons Corner Center.[6]
- December 27 – A fire at the parsonage at the Maranatha Baptist Church at 3511 Annandale Road in Annandale kills 42-year-old Terry Maye.[7]
- December 30 – 25-year-old James L. Ridley is shot to death in his car during a failed robbery by James A. Erby in the parking lot of the Subway in the Spring Mall Center in Springfield.[8][9]
