James W. Fourqurean

James Warren Fourqurean is a former attorney and judge of the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court from 1985 to 1991.[1]

Fourqurean graduated from Victoria High School in Victoria, Virginia. He then attended Virginia Tech, graduating in 1964 with a degree in public administration and in 1967 with a degree in business administration. Fourqurean took his law degree from the American University College of Law.[2]

He worked for two years as the administrator of the Fairfax County Court, then practiced law for the next decade.[2]

Following the election of Judge Thomas A. Fortkort to the bench of the Circuit Court, Fourqurean was nominated to fill his seat on the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court in 1985.[2]

Despite the support of the Fairfax County Bar Association, Judge Fourqurean was not nominated for a second six-year term on the bench of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations court in 1991, and David S. Schell was instead elected to the position. Fourqurean returned to private practice.[3]

In March 1998, Fourqurean was appointed conservator of the assets of Robert and Kitty Hanson. Following the Hansons' deaths, attorney Frank H. Grace became the executor of their estate, and an accounting by Dexter S. Odin revealed that Fourqurean had embezzled over $200,000 from the estate.[1]

The 59-year-old Fourqurean surrendered his law licence in November 2001, and plead guilty to embezzlement in April, 2002.[1][4]

Circuit Court Judge Henry E. Hudson sentenced Fourqurean to 90 days in jail on May 24, 2002.[4]
