- May 16 – 17-year-old Herndon High School student Jose Sandoval is shot and killed in Herndon by Alirio Reyes, a 26-year-old member of the MS-13 youth organization.[1][2]
- May 20 – Mike Campbell is named the new principal of Westfield High School following the departure of Dale Rumberger to open the new South County High School.[3]
