- June 17, 1969 – 57-year-old George C. Crown is shot to death in the basement of his home at 7300 Rolling Road in Springfield by 21-year-old Frederick C. Wininger, a Vietnam veteran.
- June 17, 1985 – The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors unanimously approves a proposal by Miller & Smith for the rezoning of the 1170-acre Lehigh tract for the construction of Kingstowne.
- June 17, 2008 – 52-year-old Larry T. Johnson dies in a kitchen fire at 2764 Annandale Road in Falls Church.
- June 17, 2013 – 36-year-old Anand Venkata fatally shoots his mother-in-law, 62-year-old Lakshmi Bhat, then turns the gun on himself and commits suicide in his 23rd floor apartment in the Skyline Towers at 5597 Seminary Road in Falls Church.
