- October 13, 1913 – While working on the Lake Barcroft dam, 15-year-old Hubert S. Monger is fatally injured when the steam drill he is operating rolls over on him and crushes his skull. The mortally injured youth is taken to the Alexandria Hospital, where he dies later that evening.
- October 13, 1969 – 4-year-old Dorothy Jean Diggs is killed when she is struck by a car door as she attempts to jump from the moving vehicle, which had rolled backwards for nearly a block on Laburnum Street in McLean. She is taken to Arlington Hospital, where she is pronounced dead.
- October 13, 1989 – 34-year-old Saba Tekle is shot to death outside her door in the Orleans Village Apartments in Alexandria by 17-year-old Dwayne A. Wright.
