- September 9, 1989 – 18-year-old clerk Vinay K. Bhatia is stabbed to death by Raheem Abdul Muhammad during a botched robbery at the Hess gas station on Route 1 in the Hybla Valley area of Alexandria.
- September 9, 1990 – 29-year-old Nhoeung Khlaut strangles her 4-year-old son, Thi Nguyen, and her 11-month-old daughter, Vuy Thi Mihn Nguyen, at a relative's house in Herndon, then stashes their corpses in a downstairs closet.
- September 9, 2012 – 65-year-old Billy Ray Allen is killed when he loses control of his 1994 Infiniti J30 and crosses the double yellow line into the westbound lane of Franconia Road near Norton Road, where his car crashes into a 2002 Cadillac Deville, then hits several large rocks and flips.
