Washington and Old Dominion Railroad
The Washington and Old Dominion Railroad, usually abbreviated as the W&OD Railroad, was a railroad that ran from Bluemont, in Loudoun County, to Alexandria. It was formed in 1911 when the Great Falls and Old Dominion Railroad took over the line from the Southern Railway.
The railroad ceased passenger service in 1951 and the entire line was abandoned in 1965. The abandoned right of way was converted into the W&OD Trail.
