February
- February 23 – 44-year-old Samuel Van Dyke Brooke kills one of his passengers, 39-year-old Julia Kelly, and fatally injures himself when he loses control of the car he is driving and crashes into a ditch on the Little River Turnpike. Brooke is taken to the Alexandria Hospital, where he dies on February 25.[1][2][3]
March
- March 5 – The Fairfax County School Board elects Wilbert T. Woodson as the new superintendent of the Fairfax County Public Schools system, effective on July 1.[4]
August
- August 25 – 26-year-old Leon L. Cornell is fatally injured by Kenneth Poole when Poole, racing with Marshall Frinks along Franconia Road in Alexandria, loses control of his car and crashes into a telephone pole. Cornell is taken to Alexandria Hospital, where he dies on the morning of August 28.[5][6]
September
- September 15 – 5000 people turn out to celebrate Ku Klux Klan day at the last day of the Fairfax County Fair.[7]
November
- November 11 – 38-year-old Michael Caetto shoots and fatally wounds 34-year-old Raymond Grover to settle an argument at an Armistice Day party in Alexandria. Grover is taken to the Alexandria Hospital, where he dies on November 18.[8][9]
