Donald P. McDonough

The Honorable Donald P. McDonough (March, 1945 - ) was a judge for the Fairfax County General District Court from 1988 to 2014 and chief judge from 2004 to 2014.

Before ascending to the bench, Judge McDonough worked as a legal aid lawyer.[1] Judge McDonough presided over Virginia's first small claims court, begun as an experiment in 1988.[2]

On June 9, 2000 in an unusual gesture, Judge McDonough personally paid $250 in back rent for Deborah Morris and Louis Swann, a middle-aged deaf couple facing eviction in a case before him.[1]
