Inova HealthPlex
Inova Healthplex is a combination emergency room and outpatient care facility that has three locations, including two in Fairfax County.
The purpose of the HealthPlex concept is to provide advanced emergency care, beyond that of the traditional urgent care facility, without building a full-fledged hospital.
The first HealthPlex, Franconia/Springfield, was constructed at a cost of $37 million and opened on April 3, 2001 in Alexandria.[1]
In 2009, Inova announced they were delaying construction of the planned Lorton Healthplex and instead moving forward with one in Loudoun County.[2]
Construction of the $13 million first phase of the Lorton HealthPlex finally began in February 2012.[3] Following a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 2, the new HealthPlex opened on March 4, 2013.[4]
