Events that took place in Fairfax County in June, 2016:
- June 6 – 20-year-old Michael N. Powell pleads guilty to second-degree murder for the August 2015 killing of 42-year-old Khalid Aboumalik in the Huntington Park in Alexandria.[1]
- June 7 – 74-year-old William Patton dies in an early morning fire at his apartment at 10171 Mosby Woods Drive in the Mosby Woods neighborhood of Fairfax. The speculation is that the fire was unintentionally set by Patton smoking in bed.[2][3]
- June 7 – The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approves a resolution to ask the Circuit Court to order a referendum on a food and beverage tax in Fairfax County.[4]
- June 8 – 67-year-old Hiep Van Le settles an argument with his son-in-law, 45-year-old Dang D. Ngo, by shooting Ngo to death in the front yard of his home at 3408 Beverly Drive in Annandale. Le also fatally wounds his 40-year-old daughter Sophia, who is taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she dies.[5]
- June 22 – 67-year-old Mary M. Harnage is killed when she is run over by her 1987 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck in her driveway at 4213 Sleepy Hollow Road in Annandale.[6]
- June 24 – Former Fairfax County Police Officer Adam D. Torres is sentenced to a year in jail by Circuit Court Judge Robert J. Smith for fatally shooting John B. Geer at Geer's Springfield townhouse on August 29, 2013.[7][8]
