- May 3 – Fairfax County Circuit Court Judge Jack B. Stevens sentences 22-year-old Robert B. Ennis, Jr. to ten years in prison for fatally stabbing 20-year-old Jamie Friend following an incident of road rage on Popes Head Road in Clifton on December 2, 1990.[1]
- May 7 – 14-year-old Summer Lawhead is shot in the face with a .303 Enfield rifle by her 16-year-old boyfriend Marcus Fossett at his family's house at 2607 Beacon Hill Road in Alexandria.[2][3][4]
- May 26 – 47-year-old Charles L. Paugh is fatally stabbed by his trailer mate, 32-year-old Michael E. Travers, in his trailer at 5609 Vine Street in Franconia because Travers believes his 3-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted by Paugh.[5][6]
