- August 30, 1964 – 16-year-old Norma A. Burril is strangled to death by Sherman W. Phillips, Jr. in his car, which he had parked near a baseball diamond near the intersection of Gallows Road and Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church.
- August 30, 1977 – An appearance by Roy Rogers at the opening of his eponymous restaurant in the Pickett Shopping Center in Fairfax is spoiled when a 17-year-old miscreant hits the 66-year-old entertainer in the face with a cottage cheese pie.
- August 30, 1988 – 30-year-old John M. Malvin beats and mortally injures his 3-month-old son Justin at the family home on Sleepy Hollow Road in Falls Church. Justin is taken to the Fairfax Hospital, where he dies later that evening.
- August 30, 2004 – While attempting to cross Richmond Highway near Fernedge Lane in Lorton, 25-year-old Marcus Bigsby is struck by three vehicles and mortally injured. Bigsby is taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he dies.
