- December 10, 1969 – Fairfax County School Board chairman Dr. William S. Hoofnagle is appointed Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors by Circuit Court Judge Arthur W. Sinclair.
- December 10, 1998 – 40-year-old Fairfax County Police officer Larry H. Jones is convicted of illegally discharging a firearm in public in Loudoun County General District Court. Officer Jones had shot a cocker spaniel in the yard of his house in Sterling, on September 22, claiming he feared that the 30-pound dog was about to attack him.
- December 10, 2006 – Following a failed business negotiation, 24-year-old Orator W. Hall is shot and mortally wounded in Burke by 19-year-old independent salesman Charles Caprino. A friend drives Hall to the Glory Days Grill in the Burke Town Plaza on Old Keene Mill Road, where his body is found in the parking lot.
- December 10, 2008 – The BB&T bank at 6220 Old Dominion Drive in McLean is robbed. Fairfax County Police chase the suspect, 19-year-old Hailu Brook, into Arlington County, where they fatally shoot him.
