- December 30, 1854 – Henry C. Sinclair is stabbed to death by Robert Dickey in Dranesville.
- December 30, 2003 – 45-year-old Claudio G. Melgar and two of his children, 25-year-old Claudio and 14-year-old Beatriz, die in a fire at 3847 Pinewood Terrace in the Lake Barcroft neighborhood of Falls Church. Six other people living in the house escape the fire, which was likely caused by an electrical short in the wiring of the six-week-old Christmas tree in the house.
- December 30, 2004 – 25-year-old James L. Ridley is shot to death in his car during a failed robbery by James A. Erby in the parking lot of the Subway in the Spring Mall Center in Springfield.
