- December 31, 1923 – 42-year-old Daniel Kenny is found murdered with 17 stab wounds and a shotgun blast to his corpse in a thicket near Falls Church.
- December 31, 1957 – The Town of Fairfax files suit seeking to annex 5,070.15 acres of Fairfax County.
- December 31, 1965 – While exploring a construction site on Forestville Road in McLean, 16-year-old Renah B. Rietzke is mortally injured when he misjudges a jump in the unfinished home and falls 12 feet into the basement. Rietzke is taken to the Arlington Hospital, where he dies about 2:00 a.m. the following morning.
- December 31, 1982 – 28-year-old Albert Gardner kills himself at his home on Idylwood Road in Falls Church when he loses a drunken game of Russian roulette and shoots himself in the head.
- December 31, 2007 – 18-year-old Jose P. Lopez is stabbed to death by 31-year-old Manuel Soliz outside Soliz' apartment building at 6018 Knollwood Drive in the Bailey's Crossroads area of Falls Church to settle an argument.
- December 31, 2009 – Claudia Nova, a 21-year-old Falls Church woman, is stabbed to death by her boyfriend, 29-year-old Selbin Marroquin, at their shared apartment at 6077 Argyle Drive #12.
