- January 18, 1965 – At a meeting called by Arlington Delegate Kathryn Stone and Director of the Northern Virginia Center of the University of Virginia Dean E. Brundage, 70 officials from Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William and Loudoun counties, as well as the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church, agree to collaborate on obtaining a vocational school for the Northern Virginia region.
- January 18, 1992 – 23-year-old Johnny Tart is stabbed to death outside a dormitory at Lorton Reformatory Youth Center I.
- January 18, 2010 – A small meteorite crashes through the roof of the Williamsburg Square Family Practice in Lorton, landing in examination room number 2.
