- July 18, 1919 – 72-year-old Jacob Messerole is killed by a passenger train in Burke Station.
- July 18, 1938 – The Fairfax County Planning Commission holds their first meeting in the old Fairfax Court House. E. R. White is elected Chairman of the commission.
- July 18, 1963 – 35-year-old Edwin G. Grimsley drowns in Lake Barcroft when he is struck by an unknown person, fracturing his skull and causing him to drown. Grimsley had entered the lake in pursuit of four teenaged boys who were launching cherry bomb firecrackers at swimmers near Lake Barcroft's beach number 4. His body was discovered in six feet of water a few minutes later, with his jaw broken and his skull so badly fractured that it was determined that he would have died of his injuries had he not drowned.
- July 18, 1992 – 4-year-old Amber L. Fisher drowns in the swimming lake at Timberlake in Oakton. She is flown by helicopter to Fairfax Hospital, but the staff there is unable to revive her.
- July 18, 2000 – 47-year-old Phuong Ngoc Ho is sentenced to 30 years in prison by Judge Leslie M. Alden for stabbing his 41-year-old ex-wife Lien to death at her house at 6534 Wheat Mill Way in Centreville on December 14, 1999.
