- July 4, 1950 – 38-year-old Henry D. Batchelder commits suicide with a shotgun in his apartment at 6619 Willston Place in the Seven Corners area of Falls Church.
- July 4, 1961 – The nude, bound, strangled corpse of 22-year-old Marta Santa Cruz is found in the South Run in Lorton by teenagers Harry Shaver and Billy Robertson. She is estimated to have been dead for two to three days.
- July 4, 2003 – 19-year-old Irena Johnson beats and mortally injures her 6-month-old daughter Mirakle Cannady in the family apartment in the Orleans Apartments in the Lincolnia section of Alexandria. The mortally wounded infant is taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she dies of her injuries.
- July 4, 2011 – Lawrence G. Emmer is stabbed to death in his Great Falls home at 1223 Colvin Meadows Lane by his son, Casey.
