- March 4, 1927 – 44-year-old Louis Boersig attacks and beats Minnie I. Ridgeway and her daughters, 6-year-old Loretta and 4-year-old Kathleen, mortally injuring the two children, at their home in Alexandria. They are taken to the Alexandria Hospital, where Kathleen dies the next day and Loretta dies on March 12.
- March 4, 1949 – 22-year-old Julian V. Davidson is arrested by Officer John A. Wahl after Davidson drunkenly crashes the Aeronca trainer he was flying beside Lee Highway, just west of Fairfax Circle. Davidson's passenger, Charles Eakin, was not hurt, and the crash occurred just a few hundred feet from the Circle Motor Court, which was owned by Davidson's father. Davidson's arrest is the first charge of drunken flying brought in Fairfax County.
- March 4, 1982 – While whacked out of his mind on LSD, 15-year-old David C. Gerhardt commits suicide with a shotgun in the Long Branch Park in Fairfax.
- March 4, 2013 – The Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation announces the appointment of Edythe Frankel Kelleher as executive director, replacing the departed David Versel.
