- May 13, 1983 – Judge Lewis H. Griffith sentences 18-year-old Clydel D. Diggs to 50 years in prison for the murder of 48-year-old David Thomas, Jr. in Mount Vernon on October 28, 1982.
- May 13, 1983 – 16-year-old John Svec is struck and mortally injured by drunken Navy nurse Mary Ann Cronin as he walks along Little River Turnpike in Annandale. Svec dies at Fairfax Hospital on May 16.
- May 13, 2001 – 24-year-old Cuong G. Le shoots and kills 20-year-old Kenny A. Luu and mortally wounds 27-year-old Long Nguyen outside the Majestic Crab House at 2922 Annandale Road in Falls Church. Nguyen dies later in the day at the Inova Fairfax Hospital.
- May 13, 2011 – Edward M. Andrews robs the Cardinal Bank at 11150 Sunset Hills Road in Reston. During the robbery, Edwards vaults the teller counter and pistol whips a 54-year-old clerk.
