- October 11, 1999 – 24-year-old Robin J. Kehrer is strangled to death by her boyfriend, 33-year-old Jason A. Morant, in the stairwell of the office building at 3975 Fair Ridge Drive in Fairfax where they both work.
- October 11, 2008 – 31-year-old James R. Hammer unintentionally kills himself in an early morning crash in Reston when he loses control of his 2004 Nissan Maxima on Sunrise Valley Drive and strikes a tree, causing the car to flip.
