- October 15, 1921 – William H. Oehlert shoots and mortally wounds 33-year-old Henry E. Briscoe following an altercation in Alexandria. Briscoe is taken to Alexandria Hospital, where he dies the next day.
- October 15, 1972 – While walking along Courthouse Road in Vienna, 15-year-old Elizabeth Morse is killed and 17-year-old David R. Hawks is mortally injured when they are struck by a downed power line.
- October 15, 2014 – Shortly after being reported missing, 15-year-old Brooke A. Buesking is struck and killed by a train in Burke.
