- October 16, 1998 – 44-year-old David W. Rider is asphyxiated in his Franconia apartment by 28-year-old Michael D. Waits to settle an argument.
- October 16, 2012 - 68-year-old Ruth Allen is shot and mortally wounded by her 59-year-old brother, Charles A. Hamilton, at 11310 Geddys Court in Reston. Allen is taken to the Reston Hospital Center, where she dies.
