- October 18, 1974 – 34-year-old Renee Lotito drowns in the Potomac River at Great Falls. Lotito's body is recovered on October 27.
- October 18, 1978 – 19-year-old Roger B. Judkins shoots his 48-year-old father Newell to death with a .22 caliber pistol while he is sleeping in the family home at 6920 Hickory Hill Avenue in McLean.
- October 18, 1995 – 16-year-old Elizabeth Gould unintentionally kills herself while sneaking out of the family's home at 725 Gouldman Lane in Great Falls when the 1995 Nissan Sentra she had sneaked out of the family's garage rolls backwards and crushes her between the driver's side door and the fence surrounding the property.
- October 18, 2007 – 50-year-old Dexter O. Richardson, Sr. is stabbed to death by his girlfriend, 32-year-old crackhead Fawn C. Scott, in their home at 10702 Warwick Avenue in the City of Fairfax.
- October 18, 2013 – 17-year-old Juan Carlos Godoy is shot and mortally wounded by 26-year-old Javier DeJesus Martinez at 2274 Marginella Drive in Reston. Godoy is flown to the hospital, where he dies on October 20.
