- September 27, 1995 – Angry at the breakup of his marriage, 32-year-old Anthony J. Simpson goes to the Edsall Gardens Apartments in Alexandria and stabs 32-year-old Fana Belay to death in front of her eight-year-old daughter, mistakenly believing her to be his daughter's babysitter.
- September 27, 1995 – 17-year-old Gustavo A. Perez is convicted of voluntary manslaughter for the January 13 shooting death of rival gang member Anthony Ortiz at the Lee Highway Multiplex Cinema.
- September 27, 2001 – A worker constructing a retaining wall at the Lincoln at Tysons Apartments project in McLean finds a human skull, leading to the recovery of the skeleton of a teenaged black female who had been beaten to death.
- September 27, 2002 – Circuit Court Judge Gaylord L. Finch, Jr. sentences Jorge Cedillos, a member of the MS-13 youth organization, to 30 years in prison for beating Fredy Reyes-Castillo to death in Brown's Chapel Park in Reston on June 17, 2001.
- September 27, 2006 – 64-year-old Vienna man Dail W. Brown, Sr. is shot to death in the basement of his home by his son, Dail Jr., who then dismembers his father's corpse and places it in the trunk of the senior Brown's car.
- September 27, 2017 – 52-year-old John F. Wood shoots up the law office of Maddox & Gerock at 8111 Gatehouse Road in Falls Church, then commits suicide.
