- September 26, 1963 – 26-year-old sailor William T. Spore beats and fatally injures his five-month-old daughter Dawn in his trailer in the Woodley Hills Court trailer park in Alexandria. The child is taken first to DeWitt Army Hospital on Fort Belvoir, then to Walter Reed Army Hospital, where she dies the following evening.
- September 26, 1989 – 19-year-old Eric J. Sweigart pleads guilty to rape and first-degree murder for killing 15-year-old Jennifer A. Weller in Huntington on April 2.
- September 26, 2005 – The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors votes to grant a non-exclusive 15-year franchise to Verizon Communications to sell cable television service in the county.
