Virginia Citizens Coalition for Police Accountability
The Virginia Citizens Coalition for Police Accountability is a do-gooder organization formed to call the Fairfax County Police Department to account for the actions of its officers.
The organization was formed in April, 2010 by Executive Director Nicholas R. Beltrante in the wake of several questionable incidents involving Fairfax County police officers, including:
- The fatal shooting of unarmed criminal suspect Salvatore J. Culosi on January 24, 2006.
- The death of 32-year-old Ashley McIntosh in a traffic accident with a Fairfax County Police officer on February 12, 2008.
- The shooting of 19-year-old Hailu Brook in Arlington by 3 officers of the Fairfax County Police department on December 10, 2008 while allegedly fleeing a bank robbery.
- The fatal shooting of 52-year-old David A. Masters on November 13, 2009.
- The shooting of 25-year-old Ian C. Smith on February 9, 2010.
