Virginia State Prison Camp 30
Virginia State Prison Camp 30 was a minimum and medium security state prison camp in Fairfax County.
On May 2, 1952, 20-year-old Stonewall Furr was fatally shot by a guard as he attempted his third escape from the camp. The mortally wounded Furr died in the ambulance taking him to the Arlington Hospital.[1]
The camp moved from its former location to a purpose-built brick facility built at a cost of $150,000 in May 1954.[2]
The camp closed in 2005.
